In 2018, a significant meeting unfolded between Jason Blumberg, the President and CEO of Global Vending Group Inc. (GVG), and an Assistant Principal hailing from a Title 1 School in Buffalo, New York. Their shared vision revolved around uniting books and families through an innovative vending machine concept. That is truly where our back story began. But what happened next, nobody could have predicted.

An Idea That Sparked A Reading Revolution

But back to the back story…

During this meeting, the Assistant Principal illuminated a pressing literacy issue within their school district. The root cause was a lack of enthusiasm and engagement when it came to reading books. Recognizing that enhanced reading comprehension and engagement could profoundly impact the children’s future, he proposed a solution. He believed that igniting students’ passion for reading by vending their favorite books and allowing them to take them home would not only boost a child’s literacy but also strengthen family bonds through shared reading experiences.

Mr. Blumberg embraced this vision and collaborated closely with his team to turn it into a reality. GVG went on to create a customized vending machine, known as the “Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine”, which dispenses books using a special golden token. This unique machine operates by rewarding children with this golden token for displaying good behavior and positive habits.

A Rewarding Program-In More Ways Than One!

Currently, the Bookworm machine is actively serving in numerous schools across the United States, boasting an impressive engagement rate. More and more students eagerly flock to this vending machine to acquire their beloved books. As books are continually distributed, new ones take their place, offering limitless opportunities for children to learn and become engrossed in reading. This combination of book vending and a rewards system holds the potential to bridge the gap between literacy and engagement.

Inchy The Bookworm’s Back Story

The vending machine’s design revolves around Inchy The Bookworm, making it a captivating centerpiece. It prominently features children and books as central themes. Additionally, schools have the option to request a custom-designed, one-of-a-kind machine, incorporating their school mascot and logo. These eye-catching designs magnetically draw children towards the machine, with books becoming the ultimate prized possessions.
