If your school is raising money to purchase Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine, it’s time to join the 5,000+ schools across the country using Read-A-Thon to raise more funds and get kids reading.

Success Story
The school’s student council raised over $7,500 for a book vending machine through a Read-a-thon and local business funding.
- Raise Funds – Students solicited pledges for the Read-a-thon, with donors having the option of flat contributions or per-book donations.
- Reward Reading – An awards assembly announced class and individual winners, with the top homeroom representative smashing a pie into the principal’s face. Prizes, including a climbing pass from Highlands Sports Complex, will be distributed to students who read and collected the most donations.
- Community Involvement – Donors included Vance Memorial Presbyterian Church, Peterson Healthcare and Rehabilitation Hospital, and Wheeling Convention and Visitors Bureau.
- Determine Use Case – The book vending machine will be used for positive reinforcement, with students earning tokens for good behavior to exchange for books.
- Bonus Benefit- Extra funding will go towards purchasing books for the vending machine.

Student can visit your Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine™ to pick out their favorite book. Insert inchy token and make a selection.
Retrieve Book
Retrieve the book from the delivery bin. Watch the student’s excitement as they hold their new book for the first time!
Continue to reward and promote your designated behaviors & habits.

Our now famous ribbon-cutting ceremonies help educate the public about the school’s goals of reading.
Designing custom artwork with school’s logo, motto and mascot helps build school pride and creates an environment of creativity and school bonding.
How Do Schools Fund A Book Vending Mahine?
Schools work with a variety of sources. DonorsChoose is a very popular fundraising organization that occasionally offers matching funding. Schools also work with the Education Foundation, United Way, Save the Children. Kiwanis Club, Boys and Girls Club donate machines to schools. The most commone Funding Options for schools are:

Foundation and clubs are also a great resource for funding! Make sure you check if there are any in your area!
Community sponsorship
Many schools have had great success asking for funding from local businesses/organizations.
PTO-PTA
Make sure to ask your school’s Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) and Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for funds/fundraising opportunities.
GRANTS
All states have a variety of grant opportunities available for schools that would like to promote literacy or implement a PBIS system. Many schools are also currently using ESSER funding for this program.
