(Andalousia, AL) Andalusia Elementary School just unveiled a new way to get kids excited about reading. Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine is open for business. Students can’t wait to try it out.

What Is A Book Vending Machine?

Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine does not dispense snacks or toys. This innovative technology provides students with free and equitable access to books. The program aligns with PBIS initiatives already in place at Anadalusa Elementary School. Students earn a gold token for good behavior and academic achievements. These tokens are used to vend a free book.

Funded By

This initiative is made possible through generous funding from the Andalusia City Schools Foundation. Their commitment to nurturing a love of reading in students is evident in this creative approach to incentivizing and promoting literacy.

AES Librarian Angie Bowden told her students, “When you pull that book out it is yours to keep. That makes it different from getting a book at the library that has to be returned. Your job today is to tell the other boys and girls in your classrooms what you saw… and how they will get to use it,”
