Green Lake High School senior Mila Chetto has created a book vending machine for her Creativity, Activity, Service project. The machine will be used to reward students for positive behavior and provide a constant reminder of the importance of books, as well as helping to build an in-home library for students who may not buy books often or have any at home. The machine will be filled with books donated to the school library, books purchased from Scholastic book fairs and book companies, and community donations. Chetto raised money for the project through a read-a-thon that she organized and the library hosted. The final design of the book vending machine features the Green Lake School District logo and trees with puns related to seasons. The School Board was impressed by Chetto’s presentation and the design of the book vending machine.
