(Tallahassee, FL)In order to get students excited about reading, Thomasville’s Harper Elementary School has welcomed Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine. Staff say this innovative addition will encourage literacy, support PBIS efforts, and ignite a passion for reading among students.

What is Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine?

Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine dispenses books instead of the usual snacks or drinks. It helps kids get excited about reading by offering a diverse selection of books. The excitement comes from picking what they want to read. At Harper Elementary, kids are all about the choice!

Alignment with Harper Elementary PBIS Initiatives:

This program directly supports Harper Elementary School’s PBIS goals by rewarding positive behavior through a token-based system. Students earn tokens or rewards when they get 100% on a reading test. The tokens can be used to vend a book from Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine. This reinforces positive conduct while fostering a love for reading.

Funding for the Machine

The machine was purchased through a Thomasville Antiques Foundation grant. Harper Elementary purchased the books inside.

Excitement Around Reading At Harper Elementary

The introduction of this vending machine has sparked enthusiasm among students. It creates a buzz around reading, making it a rewarding and enjoyable activity. By providing easy access to an array of captivating books, the machine stimulates curiosity and excitement, motivating students to explore new stories and genres.
