Students at Rachel Patterson Elementary School gathered to witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony. But these lucky students aren’t just getting books handed to them. They’re earning “golden tokens” for good behavior, excellent attendance, academic progress, and even positive office referrals. These tokens are like the keys to Inchy’s treasure chest. Earning one, allows students to vend a book to keep!
Principal McMillian’s Enthusiasm
Toya McMillian, the Principal of Rachel Patterson Elementary School, couldn’t contain her enthusiasm for this incredible opportunity. She took to social media to express her gratitude to Gulf Coast RC&D, the project’s funding partner, saying, “A huge thank you to our partners in education at Gulf Coast RC&D for funding this amazing project to promote literacy, build students’ home libraries, and ignite a love for reading in our students.”
Meet the Stars of the Rachel Patterson Elementary Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
Now, let’s talk about the stars of the ribbon-cutting ceremony – Kamden Turner and Quinterio Hunter! Kamden is the student with the highest number of Accelerated Reading points. And let’s not forget Quinterio Hunter, the student with the second-highest number of Accelerated Reader points. He received the second golden token. These students are proving that reading can be a thrilling adventure!
