Otsego will soon boast four of these incredible vending machines. The second machine was unveiled at North Ohio Elementary on September 30. Each machine is funded by the Otsego Community Foundation and Kiwanis Club Gaylord. It’s a community coming together to make reading dreams come true.
Golfing for a Good Cause
Now, you might be wondering how this wonderful journey began. Well, last June, over 100 passionate golfers swung into action at the second annual S.T.O.P. Golf Outing, hosted by the Michigan State Police Gaylord Post at the picturesque Otsego Resort. The result? A staggering $20,000 raised for the purchase of book vending machines. So, how do these fantastic vending machines work their magic? Students earn tokens which they can use to vend a brand new book. North Ohio Elementary, for instance, gives students tokens on their birthdays. Other schools reward students based on good behavior.
