Muessel Elementary School Student with inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine

(South Bend, Ind) Muessel Elementary welcomes a new way to get kids excited about reading—Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine. This innovative technology encourages literacy, aligns with the school’s PBIS program, and ignites a passion for reading among students.

What is Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine?

Instead of sugary sodas or salty snacks, Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine offers books. Lots of books. There are chapter books, picture books, books in English, books in Spanish, fiction books, and non-fiction books. The kids get excited about choosing from such a diverse library.

Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine support Muessel Elementary School’s PBIS Efforts.

The program bolsters PBIS efforts at Muessel Elementary School by using books as a reward. Students are rewarded with a gold token for good behavior or academic achievements. Then students use that token to vend a book. The best part? The book is theirs to keep!

“This is really cool for the kids here at Muessel,” explained Javier Jimenez, director of school learning. “They got to earn a yellow token for completing different literacy tests. So they get to select a book that’s appealing to them, that’s exciting to read, and continue to get books here in our kids’ hands.”
