Hey there, fellow bookworms! Got a craving on Thursday morning? Happen to be at Naomi L. Brooks Elementary School? Why stop by the vending machine. Wait a second! You’re not in line for your usual snacks. No, sir! You’re about to score the latest page-turner from Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine! Yes, you heard that right – a book vending machine!

A new book vending machine is turning students into bookworms at Naomi L. Brooks Elementary School in Alexandria.

Books Galore for Naomi L. Brooks Elementary Students

The students at Naomi L. Brooks Elementary got their first glimpse at this a one-of-a-kind vending machine. But it gets better. Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine ties into the school’s positive reward system. The machine is operated by tokens. To earn a token, students must be recognized by a teacher for good behavior, reaching reading goals, or even a birthday treat. Students can use the token to vend a book of their very own.

It’s all about making reading fun and exciting!

A PTA Project That’s Making Waves

Hold on, it gets better! Naomi L. Brooks Elementary PTA is brimming with book-loving parents. They played a key role in bringing Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine to the school.

Armita Cohen, a past PTA president, had this to say, “We heard about book vending machines and how it makes kids excited about reading.” We couldn’t agree more, Armita!

Students’ Voices Matter

But here’s the real icing on the cake. Students have a variety of books to choose from. More advanced books are up top. Picture books are down below. There’s something for everyone. The community chipped in too, donating books to keep the machine well-stocked.

Keeping the Pages Turning

Maya Mahoney, current PTA president, shared her thoughts on this amazing initiative, “We have a lot of parents that love that we brought a book vending machine to the school. It’s a great way for the community to get involved in the book vending machine as well.”

So there you have it, bookworms. Naomi L. Brooks Elementary just got a little more exciting! Thanks to the dedicated PTA, parents, and the community, the love of reading is spreading—one vending machine at a time.
