Parsons Elementary School found a creative way to get kids excited about reading. Recently, the school welcomed its new Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine.

Earning Knowledge with “Gold Coins”

On Tuesday’s ribbon-cutting ceremony, students learned about their opportunity to earn gold tokens. Tokens can be used to vend a brand new book. To earn a token, students must demonstrate good attendance, grades, and behavior. The school will take advantage of their regular book fairs to keep the machine stocked. Teachers and staff plan to offer a diverse selection of books.

Fundraising Success for Inchy’s Arrival

Principal Holly Kitson said the school organized three fundraisers. Coupled with strong support from parents, they were able purchase this innovative machine. Kitson expressed gratitude for the community’s support of the initiative.

Parsons Elementary Encouraging Good Choices Through Literacy

Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine will inspire students to get excited about reading. Teachers and staff hope this vending machine becomes a symbol of making positive choices in both academic and personal spheres.

Inchy’s Expansion: A Community Effort

Parsons Elementary is the second school in the Decatur area to welcome Inchy’s Bookworm Vending Machine. South Shores Elementary paved the way in November of 2023.

The Community Foundation generously contributed $1,000 to South Shores for purchasing books. They are also extending the same support to Parsons Elementary. This ensures both schools can provide books for their students.
